As we near the end of another eventful year at Notaro Care Homes, we’re proud to share some of the incredible progress made within our recruitment efforts. The past year has been one of growth, learning, and remarkable achievements for the recruitment team and the wider company.
A year in numbers
Between September 2023 and September 2024, we welcomed an impressive 270 new starters across our 11 care homes. This surge in successful placements is a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and the growing appeal of a career in care.
Adapting to a changing care landscape
The broader care landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years. From navigating the challenges posed by COVID-19 to adapting to post-Brexit right-to-work regulations, the sector has had to stay agile. However, some truly positive outcomes have emerged from these changes.
COVID-19, in particular, brought about a shift in how people view careers in care. Many individuals who may not have previously considered this path have since found rewarding and meaningful roles within our homes. Additionally, opportunities like certificates of sponsorship have allowed us to attract skilled healthcare professionals from a variety of backgrounds, further enriching our care teams with new perspectives and expertise.
Progress and milestones
The recruitment team has grown into a strong, established unit. Their approach is centred on supporting candidates from the very beginning of their journey, right through to their induction. From the first phone screen to check-ins during the induction process, candidates have a consistent point of contact. This personalised support helps ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for every new starter.
Another key strength of the team is their deep knowledge of the roles, care homes, and surrounding communities they serve. This insight allows them to place candidates in roles that best match their skills, experience, and personal preferences. In turn, this approach contributes to positive outcomes for residents, as well-placed staff are more engaged, settled, and motivated to provide exceptional care.
The impact of our efforts
The cumulative impact of these efforts has been significant. It’s clear that the focus on proactive recruitment and thoughtful onboarding has reduced reliance on agency staffing. This has enabled the creation of more stable and cohesive care teams within the homes, fostering a more consistent experience for both staff and residents.
Looking ahead
As we move forward, there’s a sense of optimism about the future of recruitment at Notaro Care Homes. The ongoing mission is to continue attracting compassionate, skilled individuals into care roles while supporting their professional growth every step of the way.
“I’m incredibly proud of how our recruitment team has grown into a strong, established unit. From start to finish, we’re there for candidates, ensuring they feel supported and valued every step of the way,” says Jessica Spurr, Recruitment Manager at Notaro Care Homes.
A huge thank you to the recruitment team and everyone across the company who has contributed to this year’s success. The goal remains to build on this momentum and ensure that Notaro Care Homes continue to be warm, welcoming places for both staff and residents alike.
